A quick review of the FLIR C2 infrared camera
So I added the FLIR C2 thermal imaging camera to my bag of tricks about 3 weeks ago and wanted to share my two cents about its functionality and performance.
I have used the thermal imaging camera on 6 home inspections so far.....and so far....I'm very satisfied with its performance. First of all, it is super user friendly and with a quick charge is ready to go right out of the box. It's default settings of .95 for emissivity and 68 degrees for reflected temperature seems to work great for the home inspection application. The camera really is small enough to fit in a shirt pocket, but also comes with a lanyard if you prefer that option.
To capture an image...its the big button on top....that simple. I'm not sure how many images the camera can store, but it is definitely more than I will ever take during a full day of home inspections. The included cable for charging works with a wall outlet as well as the USB on your computer. I would recommend registering the product on the FLIR website (they gave me an additional one year warranty for doing so) so that you can download the FLIR tools and report software. Its free and provides an easy way to submit your data and findings to a client.
The C2 is listed for $499.00 on FLIR's website and I also found it in the mid 400s on amazon....then I logged into my Amazon business account and found it for $399.00, so I would obviously recommend going that route. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase and will continue to use this product in the future. Cheers!
